Litter Free Upland Privacy Policy

Litter Free Upland is a program of Upland Acts of Service, a California nonprofit organization. We respect the privacy of our volunteers, community members, and app users.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you use the Litter Free Upland mobile application, why we collect it, and how it is used.
Information We Collect
The Litter Free Upland app may collect information that you voluntarily provide while using its features.
This may include:

Phone number – Used for volunteer check-in, identifying your volunteer record, and accessing your personal service history.

PIN – A user-created PIN may be used to help protect access to your volunteer profile.

Volunteer activity – This may include cleanup attendance, volunteer hours, participation history, and related service records.

Photos – If you choose to submit a litter report or use another photo feature, you may select or capture a photo.

Location information – When you choose to use the current-location feature for a litter report, the app may request access to your device's location. You may instead enter an address or cross streets manually.

Litter reports and other information you submit – This may include addresses, cross streets, descriptions, notes, and other information provided through the app.
How We Use Information
Information collected through the app is used to operate Litter Free Upland and support its community-service activities.
This includes managing volunteer participation, maintaining volunteer service records, displaying individual volunteer impact, organizing cleanup events, responding to litter reports, documenting community impact, and improving Litter Free Upland programs.
We do not use location access to continuously track users.
Location Information
Location access is optional and is used when a user chooses a feature that requires location information, such as identifying the location of a reported litter concern.
Users may choose to provide an address or cross streets instead of using their device's current location where that option is available.
Photos and Camera Access
The app may request access to your camera or photo library when you choose to upload or capture a photograph.
Photos are used only in connection with the feature for which they are submitted, such as documenting a litter concern or Litter Free Upland activity.
Accounts and Volunteer Records
An account is not required for every feature of the app. Certain features, including viewing personal volunteer impact and service history, may require identifying information such as a phone number and PIN.
Volunteer records may be maintained by Litter Free Upland for program administration, service-hour documentation, reporting, and organizational recordkeeping.
Sharing of Information
Litter Free Upland does not sell personal information.
Information may be shared with service providers that help us operate the app and its underlying systems, when necessary to provide those services.
We may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect users, volunteers, the organization, or the public.
Community impact information may be reported in an aggregated or non-personally identifying form, such as total volunteer hours, number of volunteers, cleanup totals, or pounds of litter removed.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information maintained through the Litter Free Upland app. However, no electronic storage or internet transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children's Privacy
Litter Free Upland conducts community volunteer activities that may include youth participants. Parents, guardians, schools, or participating organizations may be involved when appropriate.
The app is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from young children without appropriate authorization or involvement of a parent, guardian, or responsible organization.
Your Choices
You may choose not to provide optional information such as your current location or photographs. Some app features may not function without the information required for that particular feature.

Third-Party Services
The app may use third-party technology or services necessary to provide features such as authentication, data storage, maps, links, or other app functionality. Those services may process limited information as necessary to provide their services and may be governed by their own privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Litter Free Upland app and its services evolve. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
